First off, please excuse the fact that Im a little ignorant when it comes to modifications to a car. Thus the reason Im on this forum to educate myself. LOL.
![]() Is it true that if I was to install a cold air intake upgrade to my car that it will affect my MPG? Is it worth it? Also I was browsing around in ebay and saw an auction involving something called a Dyno-BOOST PERFORMANCE CHIP that is supposed to increase your horsepower by 15-30HP. Anyone ever install one of these into their vehicle? Does anyone have any opinions about it? And lastly...Ive owned my Polar White cutie for about a year now and noticed that I have numerous large ugly paintchips all over the front of the car. I can understand a few paint chips but for a new car I dont believe she should be looking this rough yet, ya know? I guess I cant expect much since the car was only $13,000. Im not going to have the same paint quality as a BMW or Lexus, etc. But is anyone else experiencing this same delimma? Its so Depressing!! And Aggravating!! Should I just buy some touch up paint from Toyota or should I contemplate on repainting the entire front bumper and hood including several coats of clear coating? |

If you do some searching you will find that the paintchip problem is one that everyone is suffering from. Seems Toyota used a light cover of paint on our cars that when hit by debris will chip very easily.
As to your other questions I am not sure of the correct answer. |

You know what, i was contemplating about buying a bra for mine too. But then I heard that bras are even worse on a car's paint. sigh.... But then I also thought about those 'clear' bras that you stick on the front but I dont know how well those work and hold up.

Stay away from the "performance chips." They're bogus.
My guess is that you probably wouldn't notice the mpg difference in a cold air intake. I've owned many intake systems before, and usually, it's a 1-2 MPG difference. Usually reduces my fuel economy because I've got my foot to the floor more often to hear the sound!

Thanks for the warning about the Performance Chips!! I thought it was a little fishy. PLus after reading about how they work, it seems like they would actually do more harm than help to my engine. Thanks again!

ditto about the "performance" and paint chips, there's been quite a few discussions in the past about them
![]() As for increased mileage, well, nothing can be as beneficial as learning to drive more economically! So, you should read this first and implement the ideas which you think you can: http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5979 As for car modifications, a lot of people report a bit of a mileage boost when switching to synthetic oil, so you should consider that too.

I was thinking that maybe the touch up paint would help keep the chipped off places from rusting?? |
