extended warranty... yes/no?

we were talking on this a little..

i paid 1600 for the warranty and have another 30 days to decide if i want to dump it and get the money back...

long story short.. we had a vote here it ended 20 said get your money back and like 9(i think it was 9?) said keep it you could need it

I'm quite sure i'm going to call this week and tell them to refund it ..

but i had another thought too :) I think when i tell them to refund it I am going to get them to refund some of it and let me spend some of the funds on getting some stuff installed on the car.. I was thinking i would get some prices on things.. like keyless entry, that back bumper protector and maybe the fog lights.. that way they can take the funds and it will be on my car payment rather than out of my pocket :) And they would be more likely to give me less of a hassle since some of the money will be staying there..

and i have a coupon for 10% off accessories i wont mention until they start doing the the work :)

Make that 21. Get your money back, and don't let the F&I manager intimidate into keeping the extended warranty... because they're very good at that.

My salesperson didn't push the extended warranty. He gave me a price ($860), but when I said I'd pass he didn't try to convince me otherwise.

For 1600 you could get a sweet quality paintjob if you ever needed one. AND new headlights/taillights some other stuff.

Do the refund request in writing and give a termination date.

10% off parts is crap. Rockland Toyota should do that for you or even use TRDSparks for great prices and they are a vendor here too.

well i dont get the 1600 back to me .. i goes onto the loan principle...so if i dont use some of it there i wont see it ever :) probably better just to get them to terminate refund the money and start saving for the things i want :)

I only get extended warranties on particular used cars but always get GAP. It's a Toyota and your going to mod it. Good to hear your dumping it. but the extra cost leftover carries interest with it correct? If so get it all back then do the mods you don't want interest on this stuff.

My warr was only $695, my parents paid $650 for theirs 2 years ago.AND,we bought our cars from two different dealers.
$1600 is WAY too much!
I got the Platinum warr. It's the real deal from Toyota themselves......

Is GAP important? I didn't get GAP or the extended warranty with my new '09 5-door LB. They are giving me a check w/in 45 days for the extended warranty and GAP I got on the 3-door LB I traded in.

well if the car gets totalled the insurance will only cover the market value on the car and if that is less than what you owe.. you'll be paying out of pocket.. its one of those things you'll prolly never use..

Crap. I guess I should have gotten GAP as well. I hope they have some window (like 30 days) to add GAP since its price is added to the price being financed.

Pay off your credit card. If not, whatever you buy is costing MUCH more than what you paid, as you're paying interest on top of the original cost. Not smart. Don't be a typical American...try to be as debt-free as possible. In these tough economic times, being debt-free puts you in the best possible financial position.

i hear that.. I'm certianly not the typical american.. the only debt i have is left over from some promotional stunts from the business i started a couple years ago and sold.. I had them almost paid off . then the jeep we had before this yaris had the transmission go, brakes .. etc and i thought we were going to keep it so i dumped 4k into it. :( .. just to sell it for 3500... luckily we only paid 1500 for the jeep from a friend of the family.

I screen print and am starting to do rock shows to promote the business and get the bands together that create shirts for .. i'll be making about $1000 a night off ticket sales.. I plan to do it Once a month.. and pay off all the credit cards quick.. then hammer down the car :)
