Well........

Here I am! I haven't taken delivery of my 07 Liftback yet (it's supposed to be in next week) but I just wanted to introduce myself to all you Yaris fanatics. I'm an old guy.....At 50, I'm probably not the average demographic for this car.

Over the years I've owned some of the most coveted cars you can imagine, (one of which I still own) but by an odd twist of fate and an extreme hatred for gas hoarding A-rabs, I bought a Yaris. I currently have 3 other vehicles, but I bought it mainly to replace a Black 2000 Mazda Protege (which has served me faithfully as a daily commuter) that I'm giving to my daughter. The reason I bought the Yaris is that you just can't buy a better 40mpg car for 14k. Believe me, I looked for MONTHS trying to find something better. I drove EVERYTHING!!! At Least 20 cars. The Honda Fit, The Nissan Versa, The Mini Cooper, The VW GTI.....etc, etc, etc. There just is not a better vehicle out there NEW or USED for 14k.

The reason Im here is, because as great a car as I think the Yaris is, I know that:
1. There's gotta be ways to make it better
2. Eventually something will go wrong with it
3. It's just a lotta fun to talk with and meet other people that love Yaris's too.

I may not post too much here, especially at first, but I look forward to surfing the threads for interesting discussions about our car.

Just sayin' Hi!

I'm a Corvette & Cadillac guy. Right now, my current "weekend" car is a truck....A Smokin' Asphalt Black '04 Chevy SSR. My daughter just got a job and was having to use my Protege a couple times a week forcing me to put a bunch of miles on the SSR so.........I bought the Yaris. I can't wait to get my hands on it. I have a pretty hefty commute so I plan on putting 200k on it. Quite honestly, I'm anticipating driving the Yaris waaaaaaaaaaaay more than driving the SSR. My daughter calls it a clown car, and maybe I'm just getting soft in my old age, but just the thought of getting 40 mpg gives me a woody!!!

I had my Yaris for about 5 weeks (white 5spd hatch). I enjoy driving this car. It is fun and comfortable. I can also pass a lot of gas stations. I think this may be the best car I have bought for the MONEY to date. If it hold up as well as the 78 corolla that I bought new for less than 25k, it will be money well spent.

Current cars: 05 Cooper S convertiable (wifes)
02 WRX (450hp)
02 Tacoma SC TRD double cab 4X4
02 Lexus RX300
07 Yaris hatch

My kids made fun of my Yaris too... at first. Then I reminded them about three things: 1. Global warming. 2. $3.00/gal gasoline. 3. Oil money providing funding for Islamic terrorists.

I win!!!

Donny

I agree with you on that Donny. My purchase on my Yaris happened to be on a stroke of luck because the day before I bought it, I talkedt to a coworker about my 96 civic on how well it is maintained....Unfortunately the next day the civic crapped out on me! Since then I have transitioned from Honda to Toyota and LOVING IT. I will post pics once I digicam. Congrats on your purchase

The 1st car I gave my daughter was a Red '95 Civic. I bought it clean with 80k miles on it. 60k miles later the front suspension self-destructed, and she had bent every panel on the car, so I sold it to some guy for a grand.

Needless to say, I can predict with 100% accuracy, that she will NEVER get the keys to my Yaris!!!!
