Tree Haulin'
Was thinking about getting a christmas tree this year .... I wonder if I could get it in the back of the yaris with the seats folded down?? Would be a funny sight, lol!

You probably could if it's not too tall. Are you planning on closing the door or leaving it open and just tying it down? I've hauled some pretty big things before, you can fit more than you think. Your tree might be touching the dash though.lol

I plan to fold down the rear seats, put the trunk, as close to the arm rest as I can without getting sap everywhere, then hopefully tying the hatch down...... anyone know the approximate length of the trunk when the seats are folded down?
I only get the small trees ... lol. |

I just ran out and measured and you have about 50" to work with, with the hatch closed.

I brought home a 7 ft. douglas fir last week in my liftback. I didn't think to take pictures. I had the same setup as you, except mine went in trunk first. Also, my tree was not wrapped, so when I took it out, it made a major mess. Took a bit of vacuum action to get the Yaris lookin' spiffy again.

For all of you getting trees this year, please remember to recycle them. If you aren't sure how to please contact the folks that pick up your trash, your City Manager's office or an equivalent local government office. Also check your local CraigsList as individuals may be offering to come pick them up.
Pine and Fir trees can be turned into paper, dowels, toothpicks, popsicle sticks, tongue depressors, mulch, firewood, anti-erosion roll filler, etc. They do a whole lot more good that way than as a landfill filler.

They are also a great breeding ground for baby fry.
Our city takes them to local lakes to keep the fish populations up! :D |
