Yeah, unless they were crossing the road at a 45 degree angle into traffic, or cutting diagonally across a 4 way intersection...that is totally F'ed up.

Yeah it was. There was also another story a while back of a man saving a women who drove into a flash flood, but accidentally dislocated or broke her shoulder in the process of pulling her out, and guess what she did...she sued the man. WTF is wrong with people these days.

That's what I'm asking. Another example is a patient's wife kicked me out for trying to take care of her husband. I seriously don't know what's up with people.

Looking at it from the side of the Cop:

He sees a guy jaywalking.

Hes also a cop, and I'm sure hes seen TONS of excuses, regardless of truth. Thats why you fight it in court. Just because you got a ticket, doesn't mean that its the end of that.

But honestly, I think a lot of cops have forgotten something called, "The Spirit of the Law". I forgot where I heard about this.

I don't think you can honestly blame the lack of good samaritans on cops. I'd blame people who're sue happy.

So true! I'm not sure if the law got changed, (may have even been called the good samaritan law) but it was to protect people with 1st responder / medical training. The idea was, say you are certified in CPR, and you see someone choking, you try to help, but can't save them, this law was supposed to prevent you from getting sued by the family members (AS LONG AS YOU ARE CERTIFIED). Same for doctors who are off shift and try to help someone, as long as their actions were reasonable (didn't try to operate on the sidewalk with a spoon and a plastic fork), and they had the proper training, they can't be sued. Not sure if that one's still on the books.

Either way, what goes around ALWAYS comes around eventually.

dude got hit in a STREET. that's the definition of jaywalking. You don't get "get out of jail free" cards for being a good Samaritan.

Maybe the driver of the car said the women were going to make it, and then some random guy comes running across the road and jumps into his grill??

Isn't there a Good Samaritan law that's supposed to protect "helpful people" from getting sued?

I mean, give the guy a break. He risked his life to save others.

I'm not sure if that applies to all states.
