help! im buying rims this saturday... - Toyota Yaris Forums

i need to know exactly if 205 will rub alot if the car is FULLY LOADED. got to get one this saturday wanna make the right choice. i am running trd springs but i guess thats beside the point.

rims im looking at is 16x7 205/50/16 +40offset. about .4 inch bigger in diameter
and 195 is about .1 smaller diameter that stock

or do i need to go for 195 instead of 205. i prefer 205 but depends on the rubbing issues.. anyone.

I ran 205/40R17s with TRD springs and it rubbed ALOT.

I now run 195/50R15s with coilovers (alot lower) and NEVER rub.

With TRD's, the height of the two tyres mentioned will not create any rubbing issue. The problem (up front) is the wheel offset. With ET40, I would generally recommend 195mm rubber. If you go with JDM OEM 195/50/16, you should be good to go. However, if you're stuck on 205's, look for a higher offset wheel.

Like me, it seems you're pretty concerned with rubbing issues. In which case, don't settle for the 205s. Get the 195s and don't worry anymore.

if i go 205 what offset do i need.. would it be +45 and up.

ET42 will usually do it... but, of course, it depends on the tyre; some 205's are wider than others.

new plan.. what offset can i have max on a 16X8 on the back without rubbing. i may go staggered instead. anyone.

so 16x7 front and 16x8 on rear what tires size though.

on a FWD you'd want the opposite stagger for maximum handling. 16x8 fronts and 16x7 rear.... with your plan, you're going to get massive understeer.

stick with your original 16x7 all around and 195/50/16

If you're trying to even things out front to rear, you can stagger offsets, which is a very common fitment on the Vitz in Japan, but rather difficult do accomplish in the States where most wheels are single offset offerings.

I run one set of wheels with staggered offsets: 16x7, 205/50/16, FR//RR ET45, ET37.

Of course, you could always run spacers (10mm) in the rear if you insisit on a set-up that can be rotated.

The last thing this car needs is anythingX8. 195-205 rubber on 16x7 is plenty wide and pretty much guaranteed safe as far as rubbing is concerned. If your objective for fat on the back is to bring the wheels out, then either play with off-set or go the Benggolf2 route and toss in some 10mm spacers (if you can find some).
