Concerns about overmodding for california emissions...

So i have a AFE intake which currently isnt carb approve. meaning when smog comes around i have to remove it and install my factory one. No biggie. I dont think the NST pulleys would make you fail for smog. But i want to install a header eventually. The one i am looking at is DC and from my experience most of thier headers are carb approve. So what i am thinking since they are new they probally are already submitted thier header for carb approval. But if i instally one now i dont know if it will be before my smog comes up. Then i have to remove it and put the old one back on. ALong with my intake. Not too bad i guess but a pain in the u know what.

This is a conversation about something that's going to happen in 3-4 years, so I hope you're not stressing about it.

I wouldn't bother with changing the header out. You can't see it for visual inspection and you'll pass anyway. Same for pulleys. The intake is pretty obvious, though.

I know a guy who doesn't care what the car looks like (you always pass visual) as long as the sniffer passes it. Find a guy like that and you won't have to change anything.

The directions that came with my DC header say its CARB approved/exempt. I have the same
concern with aftermarket parts. They should get rid of the visual inspection. I also don't
understand why my TRD intake isn't CARB approved but some of the other TRD intakes are.

We don’t have the sniff test yet in VA. They are going for safety stuff. My mother in law will send me my inspection stickers what ever Mail Boxes ect I will be close to. I know she uses a copy of my registration so the information matches the car. I think it cost her an extra $20 or so.
