Head unit mounting screw. Fell behind HU!

Ok so I was removing my HU and in the process, I dropped one of the mounting screws behind the HU somewhere. Looked in and saw the screw suspended in mid air by some of the wires in the HU harness. Reached in to grab it and it fell. Heard a clank and it was gone from sight. Is it gone forever or will it fall out of the bottom of the car somewhere?

This is one of the eight screws that mounted the HU to the mounting brackets (four on each side).

The problem is, I can't see where it is anymore. It fell to the bottom of the interior of the car below the back of the HU area.

Having that screw to use isn't the issue. I just don't want to have a screw rolling around the metal at the bottom interior of my car.

find it! haha if you don't want to take anything apart, i'd recommend a flat magnet connected to a string, and go fishing!

Is it stuck down there or will it eventually fall out somewhere?

haha i had this happen when i had the echo. It also happened with my yaris.

The echo's, i heard it fall on metal, so i knew i would not find it again unless i remove the whole interior and the carpet. So i said fux it, and left it there.

My yaris, the screw fell and was suspended mid-air in the wires. Same thing happened when i tried to reach, and it fell down. Hey! I found it on the carpet after a while :P

anyways, you are likely never gonna hear it rolling around the bottom of your car.

if you took apart your console you'd prolly be able to fetch it... that'd be a pain in the butt to take apart just for screw. SO... get a replacement UNLESS you have an annoying rattle because of the screw... in that case i'd say go for it.
