sorry Tony- my mistake in wording- I just meant that for all the folks looking for a tach in the cluster it was dead- not dead for everyone.

This thread on the OZ cluster is about as dead as a doornail.

The YarGauge has its own thread that I update.

Lewis, If you don't mind I'll attempt to make the necessary modifications to make the OZ cluster visible to the USDM driver.

Tony, we need to find someone who has a digital cluster that actually displays it. I can send them one of my CAN bus sniffers and walk them through grabbing some data for me.

Based on the reverse engineering that I've done so far on the clusters, I believe that we will find that the ECM does the calculations and sends the message up to the cluster. I just need to figure out the message ID and packet structure of that message, as all of the data needed to do the calculation is already available.

Looks like i'm up shit creek without a paddle then cause it don't work here in Australia or next door in New Zealand..........

All I can find is you tube videos of it working....

Gear Display works

It appears on this one the Km/L works as there is something lit up under the clock

I don't think any of these guys are on the forum and from what I understand the Km/L and Gear display works in Europe and I ain't anywhere near Europe.

We just need to find someone who has a paddle... Maybe a YW member in Europe or Japan who's Yaris has the mileage section active.

I don't think all hope has to be given up. Does the plastic cover on the cluster help angle the display more towards the RHD or is the VFD the part that is angled really far over?

The plastic cover is flat like on the USDM ones. All the smoke and mirrors happens behind there.

I haven't done much more with the OZ one. I am still trying to figure out the protocol for the odometer when using an ABS cluster on a non ABS car. I have the speedo working, but still can't get the odo correct. So far it either increments way too slow or way too fast.

As for figuring out the MPG / kML display for you, we need someone with a Yaris that has the fuel economy display working in their country to do a CAN bus capture for me to figure out the messaging from the ECM to the cluster that makes that display active. If we can find a volunteer, I can supply the CAN bus sniffer.

Are there left hand drive digital clusters out there? Seems to me I saw one on an acceleration video.

I guess a left hand drive digital cluster would be the HOLY GRAIL for us here in the USA. Sort of like a left handed monkey wrench? Actually I think it's what Toyota supplies to Germany, France, Italy etc.

After my frustration with the RHD one I'll be going with the Yargauge which in it's own way IS digital and analog --- so Scott has invented the Hybrid cluster which probably gets the best mileage?

Having a digital cluster would be very cool if there would be some way to convert it from kilometers to US miles. Is that realistically possible?

Yes. The digital clusters have text on them for km and miles. The can be reprogrammed to switch from one mode to the other via the techstream tool.
