Fed up with rubbing... heres my plan

My current setup consists of OEM shocks with Tein S-tech springs, 17x7 +45 Team Dynamics with 205/40 tires, factory alignment. My ride height is 12.5" all around center of hub to fender.

I am getting rubbing in the front on almost every bump and it is really annoying. Turning at low speeds does not rub at all. The rear are fine even with a 12mm hub spacer.

My plan is to get an alignment with -2 camber and 0 toe in the front and from my calcs, I can move the upper outside edge of the tire ~.4" in. I have on the way: Tokico blues, TigerTec springs <a bit milder drop with a little higher spring rate in the front>, and a 23mm rear sway.

How does this sound? I have a lot of $$ invested in my rims and tires and want to keep them. The rims are really light <for 17's anyway>. I can switch to 195/45 tires and gain some width clearance there but lose some wheel well clearance <they are a little taller than the current tires>.

wonder why you are rubbing? I ran 205/40R17's +45 allday on DF's with no problems

and once you get the tigertec springs there will be no need for the extra - camber or smaller tires

Maybe the teins sag? IIRC stock height was measured at 15" hub to fender which would indicate a 2.5" drop with the Teins...

that's an insane drop, the teins are only supposed to do 1.5 on hatch and I think 2.0 on sedan.

Not really an "insane drop" at all Imo and with the high offset on the wheels and not really wide tires at all all the "rubbing" is comming from the fender liners . Jack the car up , pull the stupid fender liners out and enjoy your car with no "rubbing" noises

Yes the fender liners are interfering; I am not going to pull the liners because this is my daily...

On the Tein website they are listed as 1.9 F&R for the 3-dr and 2.1/2.3 for the 5-dr

the DF's settled to closer to a 3 inch drop, so I really do not see how the Teins are having a problem

Well if you don't want to address you problem then why did you ask the question
Fyi I don't see what not having fender liners has to do with your car being daily driven , I pulled my fender liners last year , slammed my ride on cusco coilovers and have not had a problem yet...and my car is daily driven

+1 no liners, daily driver here too.

But if he doesn't want to, that's ok. Do the springs and shocks first, then see if you have rubbing and need to do negative camber in the front. (OP mentioned the camber first, but I think that is out of order since he already has parts on the way).

You can also TRIM the liners only where they rub, keeping the rest intact.

On previous cars, removing fender liners led debris and water in the engine bay or exposing wires and electronics to the elements. Maybe this is not a problem with the Yaris so i will consider it. More than 1 way of doing things and I just wanted to get some opinions.

Thanks for everyones input. I'll update when the new parts are installed.

the camber will help a lot. and -2.0 isn't really that much, honestly. i've daily driven on -3.0 and flipped the tires once in their life cycle.. not too bad, and it sure turns nicely :D

Just change out the shocks! I had the same problem. Those Tokico'z will do the job, and you won't need to change out everything. Put that extra cash away for a rainy day!

I trimmed the front fender liners a bit where they were rubbing. There is still rubbing, but not as frequent.

@marlondog I am going to try the tokico blues/tein springs first with slightly aggressive alignment (-1.5 camber 0 toe) and see how that goes. I really like the stance with the teins! If not, I am going to go with the slightly higher TigerTecs.

You can always ... roll the fenders and never worry about rubbing anymore. Even though you go wide on wheels =3

Keep it Teinsta! I swithched to NF's for 2 weeks, but missed my green springs so bad. I put them back on, and the rub was gone.
