Conventional 5w-20 at a local non-chain quick lube place. I think it was Quaker State.

Car hasn't exploded, so I guess it was OK.

It was low $20's, and I got a FREE car wash coupon with it.

I use Mobil 1 0W-30 too.....usually with a NAPA gold filter, but I was at Toyota today and decided to get a stock filter. I usually go at least 5000 miles between changes, but have close to 7500 on this one (getting ready to change it this week).

did an "intermediate" oil change on 4200 km in the dealership (only switched my oil and kept the factory oil filter because i wanted the "break-in" oil out of the system).
now my yaris has 7800 km on it.gonna do an earlier (less than 10000km or yearly) schedule in July (less then a year since i bought it),plan to use royal purple 10w30 oil (cost about 12$ for a quart here in Israel!! ) and of course replace the oil filter.

Any conventional GF-4, SM, Energy Conserving 5w-30 with whatever filter is on sale. I've used two Prolines by purolator and a STP.

I do 80% hwy driving. After the warranty expires, I'll think about extending the OCI with synthetic.

I use castol GTX 10W-30 and Bosch filters, change every 5000 miles, and will continue every 5000 until the oil starts getting nasty, then will bump down to 3000 miles

I've read a lot about the differences cause i work overnight, am stuck at a desk and typcially have gaps of time surpassing 30 mins with nothing to do...probably why I buy too much stuff for my car too. Synthetics can be worthwhile in boosting performance in severe racing conditions, but for daily driving there's not much of a gain. People like the fact that the oil lasts longer, but the additives break down just as fast as in normal oil, so oddly enough people seem to indirectly damage their engines more often with sythetics by using them longer than they should. I had an LT4 corvette I used synthetic oil in and regretted it...also used Amsoil in it and mysteriously found leaks I didn't know I had. Amsoil is definately a superior quality oil when changed regularly will clean your engine like no other...I just don't like it, though people here seem to have no problems with it on the Yarii

Everyone has they're preference, but IMO stick with the basics..that killed a good 5 mins

Last one was Royal Purple 5W-20, with K&N filter - $40 from Advance. Next one will probably be Amsoil 0W-20 with a WIX filter...but I've got about 7000 more miles until I do my next one...

I'm surprised so many people run 10,000 intervals. Toyota suggests 5,000.

I don't know what use? Since, I get my service at the Toyota Dealership, probably then... 5W-30 Toyota Genuine oil and Toyota oil filter?

My car is 6 months old today with around 5,100 miles. I had my first change at 3,000 miles (April). My next I will have done in August at 6,000 miles. Then my third will have done at 10,000 miles ODO. Afterwards, each oil change at 5,000 mile intervals with regular Toyo Dino oil and filter.

I may plan to use synthetic oil after 30,000 miles? I dont know? If I do, I will change the oil every 10,000 miles using a 5W-30 pure synthetic product and high mileage filter...

Cheers!

Mobile 1 5w-30 with a K&N oil filter. $23 for the 5 quart jug at Walmart and $15 for the oil filter at AutoZone.

I used the Mobile 1 oil filter previously and I will probably switch back to that since it's $5 cheaper.

5000 on regular dino oil...you can go farther with synthetic. Amsoil synthetic claims it lasts for upwards of 25000 miles..

One advantage to using synthetic motoroil....all cars sold in the US are running lean, which equals more heat.Better gas mileage, but definitely more heat..synthetic withstands this climate much better than dino. The one thing you won't change....these are still internal combustion engines, you will still have blow-by gas(es)..using dine or synthetic,no matter...change your oil often, and the filter!!!!!........dino or NOT!.Don't let the get ya...all internal combustion engines aquire contaminates!.

Toyota recently released a press note saying that over the next year they will start to recommend 0w-20 synthetic oil across several models, due to lower emissions and higher efficiency. I wonder if the yaris will be one of them?

I have been using 5w-30, it indicates 5w-30 on the oil cap and recommends 5w-30 on my manual. I don't think everyone needs synthetic oil though, if you drive mostly on the highways, conventional oil should be fine.
