Question Missing Screw from Engine Compartment

Hi everybody,

A few days ago I took my Yaris (Sedan YRS 2008) to the dealer for regular maintenance service. They told me there is something wrong with oil pan and that the oil pan should be changed. After I got back the car, I took a look at the engine compartment and I FELT there is a screw missing in the engine compartment ( red arrow and red circle)

Could you please take a look at your engine and tell me if my guess correct?

Thank you in advance

I've looked at various pics of other engines on this site. I could not see a screw in any of those either. I would ask that you check yours again to see how deep the recess is. I believe it is there as an attachment point and would not get a screw until whatever goes there gets well...attached. Don't forget these engines are used in other applications and in those something may be affixed at that point.

I don't think you have to worry. On the 3 dr that is used to tie down a wiring harness.

My left driver side 2007 Sedan has a wiring harness for the ECU there with a fastening mount.
I did not see any harness in your photo. I do see what looks like a Master Brake Cylinder Reservoir that is on the other side of the engine compartment on mine.
Is yours a right driver side Yaris?
If so it may not have a harness to fasten down.

oh don't worry, every time I do anything in my engine compartment I end up with a couple screws left over... nothing bad happened yet :D

but seriously! I'll double check on my car (RHD too), but I don't think we have anything there, like someone else mentioned, our ECUs and brake boosters are swapped, so we don't have a cable running there.

Yes, you are right! I am from Australia and the steering wheel is on the right side here!

So everything is right? Should I rest assured?

so the hole is to tie down a wiring harness, but only in LHD vehicles.
