Was flipping thru Consumer Reports Auto 2010...

So I was with my son at Borders and happened to see the CR Auto Report 2k10 magazine and decided to pick it up. I was flipping thru and decided to have a peek at what they had to say about our little car as they have always been batshit crazy toward it (in a bad way). Well they kept the trend up. Unless memory serves incorrect they gave the Yaris a rating in the 30s or 50s, I am truly thinking 36. Sooooo, yeah, they bashed our car greatly and once again stated, " we cannot recommend the Yaris".

P.S. I a really wondering who gets blown so well to have some of those other cars that scored so much higher than our car?

Yup, CR has been worthless for over a decade, sad but true.

C.R. takes the E.P.A. fuel economy estimates on the window sticker of cars ( YARIS included ) and adds the CITY and HIGHWAY together and then divides it by 2 to get the MILEAGE and they wll sometime round it up or down by 1 . Example : YARIS E.P.A. ; 29 ( city ) + 35 ( 35 Hwy ) = 64 / 2 = 32 M.P.G. overall , which is stated for C.R. miles per gallon for the YARIS . This is a joke and deceiving for car buyers . Not the real mileage that most YARIS owners or other vehicle owners achieve . We're averaging close to 42 with the auto sedan and near 40 with the 3 door auto from this spring and summer thus far .

^ The whole complaint list that CR was revolving around in their article was the inferior/cheap build of the interior, ride quality, and handling. I agree with Why? in regards to being useless for a long time now. This is not only with autos, but also CE and appliances. I am not sure about anything else they rate since I haven't checked to see other items, but yeah, it just boils my blood to know that so many unenlightened individuals rely on CR blindly. I ran across someone a few weeks back asking me if I regretted buying my Yaris. I had to ask her what she meant by that and she said that according to the reports articles out there the Yaris was a subpar car and out of characteristic for Toyota quality. I gave her a piece of paper with the site addresses for YW, MI, toyotanation, and voisunderground. Told her that all she needed to do was check one or all of these sites out to see that the Yaris is a great purchase for many people and its reliability as well as build quality are pretty darn good. I left it at that. She said she would check however who knows if she really did. She was driving a VW Jetta BTW.

well, i have to dam near max my radio to hear it on the highway true...and it's really cheap for the factory to install some sound deadening stuff from the factory true...so why didnt they? i'd much rather have spent 500 mor on my car if it was much quieter.

the whole interior is cheap. but come on, what can you expect for an 11k car? out the door mine was 11750 after tax n title. i get 40 mpg doin 80 w the ac on all the time, with a 5k oil change interval it's practically free on maintenance (25 bucks a year aint bad...). insurance is 50 bux a month for full coverage...i spend about 275 a month including gas, note, maintenance and insurance total on my car a month...not bad.

When these test drivers test cars like BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, Infinity, etc... The Yaris is going to seem like a piece of junk. The Yaris is not outstanding in any one area, but is just good in all areas. For this it will always fall behind other cars that may have one outstanding advantage.

See, I just disagree. CR is just being biased because someone is bribing them to be.

The Yaris is solid, quiet, and fun to drive. I have no complaints, and let's see, what can I compare it to? My last car was a $40k Saab Viggen, before that a 1996 Ford Taurus SHO, I have spent countless hours in a Nissan Murano, Jaguar X type, 96 Chrysler Town and Country, Old School Infinity M type, an 86 Saab 900, 93 Ford Conversion Van.

The Yaris is awesome. Spartan, pure, and true to its nature, while being comfortable, roomy, and still having a ton of places to put things. Now maybe if a had a family of 4 I wouldn't like it as much, but for my car, and me alone, it is exactly what I want.

Oh yea, and it gets the best mpg of any non hybrid(overpriced pos's) sold in the USA.
