i wont buy new after my new yaris. i have a 4 year loan, i had 3500 trade in, and paid cash for tax/title. i have a 0.9% interest rate and am paying 30/mo more than the note is. long story short, my car is valued at 7k and i still owe 7500. so i'm over 500, on a brand new car with 20% down/trade in.

so, my car is 2 years ond, 30k miles and i could buy it now with pocket change per month. or, get a personal loan and get liability only on it and save even more.

or, i can do what i did in jersey...buy my next car from the junk yard. at least you know what you're getting, where it's been and what to expect from it. in most cases, it's simple stuff to fix...an engine, a trans, some sort of electronics. i got a jeep out of the yard for 300 in jersey. it was a 96, had 135k miles on it....all records of maint in the glove box...brand new water pump, new headlights, blinkers, tails...new windshield even. the only problem with it is the reverse lights wouldnt light up...a few short minutes investigating and i took off the NSS rebuilt/cleaned it and it was working. plus it needed a driver rear window i got out of the same yard for free...

for 300 bux and about 2 hours time, i got a 5600 jeep and put almost another 175k miles on it, went muddin every weekend, rolled it, ran it w no oil twice, destroyed front axle twice and the thing still ran when i returned it to the 'yard...for 800 bux.
