Yaris Sedan and car seats???

The wife and I found out we are expecting a baby! We have two boys already 10 and 7 and the four of us are plenty comfortable in the Yaris sedan. Just not sure how well it will work adding a car seat back there also. We really like teh Yaris and REALLY love the gas mileage and hate to trade up to an SUV. Any thought on the matter? Anyone else loaded three kids in the back of the Yaris?

rear facing sucks, but forward facing might be ok with a seat and 2 older kids across the back...

That's what I am hoping. We looked around at other models, but other than mini vans and big SUVs with 3 row seating it didn't seem like we were going to gain much room. The Yaris's back seat is pretty good size. The tenative plan is to stick with the Yaris till the baby is 1-2 years old and then move up to a Sienna

Rear facing was brutal for us. We put it on the passenger side because we had to move the front seat forward quite a bit. I'd hate to have to push my driver's side forward, would be a snug ride.

If you got a narrow car seat I'd say you're fine with 2 kids + a car seat. We've got a rather bulky one that is forward facing now and can squeeeeeeeeze (emphasis on the squeeeeze) 2 adults in the back with it for short trips.

This is in a 5-door hatch, sedan dimensions might work better for it.

Being a grandfather I fount the rear facing seat in the middle of the back seat works quite well. It still leaves enough room for two children on either side for short trips using the seat belts on all three. In fact I put my grandsons car seat in the middle of the rear seat, where it should be for safety, and his mother was still able to sit next to him with room to spare to go to the market.

Just my two cents worth. I wouldn't want to go long distances with a rear facing car seat and two little ones in the rear but for 98% of the around town running you shouldn't have a problem.
