2002 wrx gremlin

since this is a question about another car than the yaris, i think that this is the right place...

so, yeah... who is really good with wiring? i have one hell of a weird gremlin going with my headlights/foglights...

okay, so what is going on is that when i turn on my foglights, the lights themselves do not always work anymore, and the indicator for the high beams comes on... started thursday, and nothing changed leading up to it... at this point, i am starting to get pissed at it... spent some time looking at the EWD, and still can't figure it out...

edit... figured out, see post 6

If the foglight switch is integrated into the light stalk, then I would be very suspicious of the stalk. If you have the EWD, look at the wiring to the stalk connector, unplug it, and check continuity between the appropriate pins for each function.

My own personal Golden Rule with electrical faults that just "start up from nothing" is to look for worn wiring and/or bad ground connections. Never failed yet.
Two wires that have rubbed against each other over the years can produce some amazing results when they start doing the other one's job.....

foglight switch is separate from the stalk... and usually the EWD makes sense to me, but this time, my head is starting to hurt...

Steve's idea has some merit. Also, If you can email me the lighting EWDs, I might be able to shed some light (no pun intended)...

NVM... just figured it out, and i feel like an idiot... the car is wired such that the high beam indicator receives power on one side from the headlight bulb, and then receives opposing voltage from the other side to keep the indicator off... well, my bulbs for high beams were both burned out(waiting on my new lights and don't use high beams anyway), and because of this, the system was not transmitting power to the first side of the high beam indicator...
