Thanks, Bro. And I wish I could ride as slammed as those guys, but in Arkansas, lets just say the roads are not as forgiving in a lot of areas, even for a seasoned slammed car driver like myself. So,I keep it decent while still tucking out. I am still learning a bit about the Yaris. I like the way they are little mini cars but so much looks like it can be done to them, so forgive me for my lack of knowledge on the limits you can push them to. I would love to have one just to see how much I could do to one while still keeping it clean.

Sorry, but this is pure BS. Mine are cut, and Jason's are cut. Both cars make power and both are raced under extreme conditions. Trimming the fenders has no effect on the car at all. Zero.

Got no problem with the rest of your advice, though.

HOWEVER, I would NOT advise you to cut the fenders as that will take away from the strength and support that is meant for that panel of your car. You will make it alot weaker.

Well, let me ask YOU for clarification. Are we talking cutting the entire fender for more of a tire clearance, my friend, or simply trimming the lip (which is not bad at all)? Trimming a lip on the car would have no type of negative effect because it could be the same as rolling the fender lip. Which, in this case, he couldnt do due to the way the flares are attached to the bottom of the fender. But hacking your fenders up so to give you more wheel clearance may not be ideal at all. (I am talking cutting a section out of your fender panel and COVERING it up with the flare so that there is nothing for it to rub against and giving it a higher point of contact than stock.) Not trying to ruffle feathers here, just may have read into it wrong, myself.

We are talking about making clearance so wheels/tires can be flush with a fender flare and still clear the fender. In my case, this required about 2" fender trim at the top maximum. Approximately a 90 degree radius of trimming total.

That's what the thread was about.

You said "cut the fenders" with no clarification, as though it were true in all cases.... just to clarify.

agreed with garm. Auto cross guys cut their fenders all the time.. Literally saw a guy with a Porsche who just hand new wider tires put on (dont remember how much bigger) but brought a cordless hacksaw and cut his fenders, just so his tires wouldnt rub.. He said people told him they will rub under extreme turns so he came prepared. This was literally my 2nd autox event i ever been to. Racer to the extreme..

No worries. And I'm sure we could list some cars that would suffer in some structural way from fender trimming.
