Offsets?
I am ready to order my wheels and tires.
Getting the 17" SportMax 001 and 205/40/17 FALKEN ZIEX 512. I know what an offset is, but how do i know what i am getting? Or better yet, what I need? Do I just tell the wheel place, whats my car and what rims, tires i want. Then they firgure out if its going to work? Thank you for the help. |

please just do a search before asking questions...
I am sure you are going with a 7 inch wide wheel, so it will be a +38 offset and BTW the correct size tire is 215/40R17, and I would think twice about those tires, they only tend to last about a year under normal driving

Thank you for a fast answer.
I did do a search, but i wanted a direct answer to my question, not chancing 800 bucks over the net for the wrong wheels. I am still confuse with your answer, you said the offset would be +38, but this site shows 4x100, 7 inch to be +40. http://www.edgeracing.com/wheels/sportmax/ Your saying i need to order a 7 inch with a +38 offset? http://www.edgeracing.com/tires/2054017/ Those tires are rated 360 tread wear? I thought anything above 350 is good for longevity? Unless the manufacture lies about the spec, i wouldn't doubt it, he he. Thank you again. |

You'll be fine with a 40mm offset. With a 7 inch wide wheel anything between 38mm and 45mm will work. Also, I have that same size tire and it works great. You may want to listen to blackyaris about the treadwear on those Falken's however.

I beg you to re-consider… Sport Maxx Is a very good looking Wheel… Cheap too, but those wheels are so fucking heavy…
You will not be happy when you find out that your new good looking Rims are actually slowing down your car! Weight is a very important factor in buying wheels for this car… Light weight… Trust me!

Its 5.1 pounds more then the stock ones. I could get the 16" and drop it to 2lbs over the stock weight? Does is really matter at those weights? |

Have you looked at the wheels our vendors in the Sponser Classified section are offering??? Very good prices on some decently light weight wheels.

Yep, take a took at these pics, and you see why i want it. Its a Scion, but a Yaris would make it look even better. Also my Yaris is the same color as the Scion. http://www.sportmaxwheel.com/gallery...el=album&id=38 |

Tire choice is personal preference. I don't know anything about the choices edge racing has to offer but you can look up tire reviews. Those wheels are not to heavy for your car. My tire/wheel package weighs about the same as yours will and I can hardly tell the difference. If you like those wheels, by all means, indulge yourself.

Cool !
I am going to take a chance on those Falken's. So far every review i read seem to says these are good tires. I also saw this, maybe this should be put in a sticky somewhere, i am sure it will help all the noobs out there like me, hehe. Quote: Some people complain about fast tire wear. Pay attention to the max pressure. If your OEM tire max pressure was 44 psi max and you replace it with 51 psi max (with the same load rating), you need to scale the operating pressure as well. Say your car OEM sticker says 33 psi. The new pressure for the 51 psi max rated tire is 33*51/44 = 38.25 psi. If your new tire load rating is different then the old one you need to factor it in. Say, if your old tire was 94H (1477 lbs max) and the new one is 95H (1521 lbs max) , the calculation is 33*51/44*1477/1521 = 37.14 psi. You will get better mileage and longer tread life. Quote: |

I had them. They were pretty good. Esp for the price. They lasted me about 25-30k miles but I didnt really rotate and check the pressure like I should.

Falkens are tires, not wheels!
I think he still wants the Sportmax wheels. |
