It surprises me that Cadillac came in so high. It doesn't surprise me that Chrysler and Jaguar came in so low.

This is not at all surprising. The 1NZ-FE that powers the Yaris has been refined for years, and is nearly bomb-proof in design. Almost like those old W123 Mercedes inline-five cylinder diesels of yore.

The only thing I really care about a car is its long-term reliability ratings. That's why I bought a Yaris in 2010. I really don't care about anything else but how often will I have to take the car in after the warranty expires. That's all that matters to me, personally....

I add to that initial cost and MPGs.

With an initial price of $13,222, 3 year financing at 0% and an average or 43 summer/ 40 winter, I think I made the right choice. It reminds me of my 1987 Subaru Justy.

Wish I got your MPGs, Rick. I get 32-35 in winter, and 35-37 in summer and I keep my tire pressure at 40psi. Of course my Yaris in an auto. If I had to do it again, I would have bought a manual transmission.

My biggest gain was from DFCO. It also works with AT. See here: http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/sho...ht=dfco&page=6
