underage, drunk teen girl hit and run kills friend of friend, judge wants probation?

Saw this posted on FB from a friend of a friend. It is messed up and if you wish to read up how messed up this really is, please do and sign if you can.

http://www.change.org/petitions/just...ng-hit-and-run

But short story is: A new college engineer, top in all his classes, top athlete, top scholar, humble, a real nice guy decides to walk home from a celebration. Girl, 18, drunk and high out driving at like 4AM or something, hits him, kills him, leaves him to die. Returns home, sees it on the news, tells her dad who calls up THE FORMER DA for SD, who then tells authorities. Judge wants her to serve probation cuz she has a job and no record. Kind of misses the fact that the friend of friend also has a new career designing military/civilian aircraft components, not only has no record but has impeccable integrity and is genuinely a nice guy dies cause she doesnt even have one ounce of decency to stop her car and at least call 911 to report a guy lying on the side of the road.

Anyways, sign if you can!

You're lucky the double shot of BBQ sauce didn't blow the seam on your nugget box. There she is, 2 pounds of pure beef. My dad ate it in 9.0 seconds flat. Check it out, it's like this. If I lose, winner takes my happy meal. But if I win, I take the burger and the toy. To some people, that's more important.

Justice i SO hard to find. We see crap like this up here as well, but the judges really don't see a problem with it. On both sides of the border, we have the legal system, and the justice system, and neither understands the other...

I have absolutely zero tolerance for drunk drivers. Back in 1984, I was almost broadsided by one but at the last minute, he saw me and swerved. I had to chase him down and when I caught up to him he was totally plastered. He kept shoving his wallet in my face telling me to take what I thought the damage was worth so long as I didn't call the police; I should have just taken all his cash and called the police anyway... But it was my first encounter so I just got his information and let him go on his way.

It was about a week later that I thought about the incident and started shaking; the realization hit me that he could have killed me and he would not have given one bit of damn. I normally just avoid reckless drivers but if I see a drunk driver, I will actually reach for my cell and call the CHP.

Back in the late 90's, my girlfriend and I were at a T-intersection in San Francisco waiting for a red light to change. Across the street, a big new SUV was trying to pull out of a parallel space on the street and kept hitting the car in front and the car behind. However, the driver was able to get out of the space. The light changed and we followed the SUV. The driver was obviously DUI. The car was so new, it didn't have plates yet. We called 911 and were put on hold! The SUV got away from us re another light change. Re the phone call, we were still on hold when we lost sight of the SUV!

unfortunately this is reality. if you know someone you won't ever have to worry about anything. Money and power are all that matter, reality and consequence don't exist for those people.
