Back to topic, I'm going Yaris for two reasons: I want the sedan, not a hatch, and I loved how incredibly dependable my Echo and my parents' Tercel have been. Plus, I like the look of the Yaris, while the Fit looks... mini-minivan is about right. |

The Yaris's centre-mounted dash was one of the big selling points for me in the car! It looks DAMN FINE IMO! I think its a more intuitive design. Jem |

No Montreal, that was not my intention. The barb was aimed at all of the idiots that pollute the TSN and other websites with their (choose 1 or more)Habs/Leafs/Sens/Oilers/Flames/Canucks nonsense. There are many who make accurate and interesting assessments of sports, cars, etc. that makes these websites enjoyable, and then there are the Trolls.

I think we need more than one moderator on this site. That guy went for days on here...
I am getting tired of seeing him post/spam the site with his nonsense

Jem I agree with you. When I decided on the Yaris over the Fit, one of my initial concerns was the centre-mounted dashboard. It took me about 20 minutes to get used to the location of the instruments, and now I prefer it that way. It gives a clean balanced look to the interior. I'm not sure, but I also think it is less distracting for night driving. On my Acura, I always had to turn down the instrument lighting at night. I have not found that to be necessary on the Yaris.

I find my eyes leave the road less to check my RPMS or speed w/ the centre location... not that it matters to any real or significant extent though of course. That was just something I noticed :D Jem |

I like my center-mounted gauges on my xB. I think some people complain about CMGs just to complain. It's really not that big of a deal; at least to me.

I like the centre-mounted dash on the Echo, but I agree fully that they improved it on the Yaris to the point it's something I can't wait to show off. I was really impressed with it during my test drive.

centre-mounted dash is great, it seems every car i ever owned i would have to bend my neck to look around the steering wheel, the yaris guages are in a great spot.
this arrangement sure has taken a beating with the automotive press, they sure don't like it, but it isn't hard to adjust to at all. |

It hasn't bothered me at all. Even switching back and forth from my Saab and there is no problems at all.

The Saturn Ion sports center mount as well. So, now that we're evolving toward a more common center-mounted dash, how long before we can have a full HUD standard?
(That would be cool, if it worked! )~YR BTW, did they finally chase off that "benfal2001" jerk? Man, if only I had nothing better to do than join forums I didn't like... alas, I've got too much crap to do!

Banfal is banned since he is clearly a troll that is trying to overcompensate for some deficiency in his life by trash talking other car owners. Thanks for reporting his posts!
