aem EMS-4 standalone ECU
Hi guys, next step in my project is running a standalone ecu (currently using aem FI/c). I would like to use the aem EMS, but I am not sure of some compatibilities with my 1NZFE...
Sensors that I know EMS will support/run easely (correct if Im wrong); 1.Mag crank sensor (already work with FIC, why not) 2.Mag cam sensor (already work with FIC, why not) 3. 370cc deatschwerks injector, 12.2ohm high impedance so why not. 4.Coolant temp, I will use aem unit... 5.Air temp, I will use aem unit... 6.Throttle position sensor (already work with FIC, why not) Sensors that I am not sure to be able to run; 1.My oem 1nzfe ''coil on top''?? 2.My idle air control valve with 3wires on the TB?? 3.Could I just use my aem wideband O2 sensor or I still need the original one? 4.Knocksensor?? Also there is 2 kind of wiring kit you can buy, first is a small one with no relay, second is a big one with relay & fuses... Which one I would need? Probably the big one since I dont know how I could still use the stock fuse/relay box. Thanks big time, and I know most of you guys run Yaris, so you may not answer my question about the idle air control valve (TB is dif from echo)... But thanks for help anyways! I am using nearly all OE sensors, along with OE coils and injectors. However, the factory MAF is now used only for air inlet temp because we are using an AEM MAP sensor. We are also using the AEM wide-band O2, the stock O2 is gone.

Is there any other reason for you to keep the stock ecu installed? Thanks very much for your fast informations! Also, what about the wiring kit needed? Do you guys used the big 96'' with the relays & fuses? |

converting to cable throttle was not that difficult. We sourced xB pedal, cable and hooked it up to a Celiga GT-S throttle body.
You will need your stock ECU for power steering if you're keeping that. (I know there's a power steering ECU, but the main unit must be present.

OH WHAT THE HELL?
I was gonna go with the EMS and the plug in play harness so I can stay in STF for the rest of the year or until I go turbo.. But if I have to swap the throttle body out and run cable that will throw me into FSP.. son of a monkey! Thanks for this OP.. thanks alot! good info here.

What's the drawbacks of not having control over the throttle with the ems? I can't think of any outside of idle control... |

I think a plug and play harness are being made for the Yaris now. The AEM can control or read OE sensor's. The purpose of keeping the stock ECU is to control DBW and A/C. My suggestion would be to talk with your tuner he will know what you will need to do.

why is one $100 cheaper than the other and what is the difference?
Eh. I guess if one was ready to purchase they could easily call and find out.
