Yep, hard to find and waiting for mine to arrive from the port. I live rural. Commute 60 miles each way twice a week. Mountains an high desert. Ice part of the year. I want the control and pep of the manual. All the reviews I read said the manual was a better ride. Can't wait to see my mileage . . . My Corolla gets 40.

I've never owned an automatic. Thinking of going over mountain passes or icy roads with a car that shifts its self. Not so much for me.
Another question -how does the Yaris do in winter weather? Does the tranny make a difference? I've heard winter tires are a must. I have used 15 inch ones from my corolla. Anyone know if they will work on an SE? |

Thanks, Nook, will do. I met a Yaris owner who lives much higher on the slope than I do. She says " perfect" with studs. My drive is more high desert now, so studs would not last, but winter tires may. That's why I ask if 15 inch would work on the SE, I have some in storage.

Auto...only way the LE comes. But love how smooth it is and it is nice not having to deal with clutch in stop and go rush hour. I can drive my other car for a manual fix.

AUTO only way to go
I have owned 3 yaris in 5 years 2 auto, and one manual. I can tell you by experience the Autos are much more pleasant to drive and better resale value and mileage about the same if driven correctly

I had a 2007 stick, 2009 auto and now a 2014 stick. same exact commutes and driving styles, the sticks gave me 5-6 mpg's more (38 mpg vs 43-44 mpg's). a stick doesn't depreciate any faster. final resale value being higher in an auto is irrelevant because the auto costs more in the first place.

AT all the way. It's all I know. I tried to learn as a teenager, but the neurotic overthinker that I am, I nearly wore out my dad's clutch.

Is it true that 94 % of car shoppers would not even consider a strait shift. If so ask yourself why!

I like manual transmission cars, but I think they are on the way out.

This Is Disturbing !
I believe there is a sharp rise in cases of bullying of auto. drivers by manual drivers in this country !
![]() I have started a Faceliftbook page 'Auto Drivers Unite Against Manual Bullying' ![]() Seriously (me? ) I want the ease of the Auto, and the U340 Trans. / 1NZ-FE Engine combo is long-lasting from what I have read here. I love driving manual cars, I have driven many for long periods of time. They are fun & really add to the driving experience. Bought the Yaris L Auto with the intent to keep it forever...Just didn't want to shift anymore. I'll bet a 5 speed Yaris is a blast to drive, if I ever get the chance to drive one I am going to take. Small cars are a BLAST to drive with a manual. I taught a lot of young kids to drive a manual with an 80's Chevy Chevette. They were really fun to drive and were a lot more peppy than their Auto. counterparts. It was on a big car lot at my dads Chevy dealer...they always caught on fast once they got used to how a manual works. |
