For optimum performance and peace of mind why not change them every 50-75k? They aren't too expensive.

I noticed some cracking (Serpentine Belt), but (IIRC) no squealing, so I had the Serp belt replaced. That was at 207,165 miles (334,137 kilometers). IIRC, the new belt squealed just a bit when I started my Yaris the next morning. I immediately drove to the shop that replaced it. They made an adjustment, and it hasn't squealed since (now at 268,754 miles/433,474 kilometers). Mine is also an 07, and I'm the original owner.

Glad to hear I wasn't nuts lol. The oem belt hasn't begun cracking yet it just never made any noise so I never bothered to change it. In 248k km so far I've had to replace 1 wiper, air filters and oil. I also did 1 plug change but am planning another.
I guess I also wanted to share what a great car it's been. I'm a total DIY so I've been waiting to have to do any repairs easily myself .. It's just never happened ! |

^^^^^
my issue (with myself ) is that when I do something mechanical re my car I'm 'OCDish' about whether I did it correctly or not...and I mean 'OCDish' to the level MrMiles is about the appearance of his Yaris . I know from past experience that when I have two cars, I don't feel that same way.

had mine changed (myself) at around 128000k. It was dry and cracking up so i didn't take chance.
Note: if you do mostly highway, i believe it wouldn't dry up as fast, since engine bay shouldn't be as hot. |

Haha
I get 30~40k miles out of mine. But my subframe is 2" off the ground and I don't have an under panel so there's nothing defending the belt from the perils of the road.

You can go LD on the belt if you do regular inspections on it. Like every oil change. (3x a year) When it starts noticeably fraying you can check it once a month if you want or need to.
