Wait, so the GT86 is not a sportscar? :o

That said, the FT1 looks nice, and aggresive, although in my eyes it still is a lexus LFA with altered aero parts.

Not that that's bad, I like the LFA as well.

The GT86 became the Scion FR-S. The LFA is Lexus. The FT-1 would become an actually Toyota nameplate. They haven't confirmed the powerplant for the FT-1, but are saying that it very well may be an inline 6 ala Supra lineage.

I'm in a part of the world where they actually sell the GT86 AS the GT86 Toyota :) So yeah, for me it's a toyota.

Oh, and you can also buy it badged Subaru BRZ. The scion version isn't for us though...
See the Dutch Toyota website:

ohhhh....now that is cool

so hhmm....thing is though that the GT86 really isn't of the same caliber as a Supra correct? It would be more in the Celica GT classification-wise I would think.

Celica GT4 is nothing like it as well, since that's a 4x4 turbo model, no I really think it goes back to the old AE86 with it's RWD platform. Later celica's were, as you know, fwd platforms.
And the old supra was more a GT car than a sportscar, even if you can easily mod it to be one.

If they name THIS car their "supra" though, that'll be something else.

Also, over here they're even setting up a cup race class with 86's and BRZ's, lol.
Too expensive considering that for 6000 more you buy the new Clio Cup car that's eligible for the European Clio series, buth hey.... They seem to have many buyers.

True that, though the new ft-1 is kinda hot news spreading like wildfire now, it's even driveable in GT6! Lol.

Also, you might want to check this site with a translator: http://www.gt86cup.nl/

Yea, saw this and I doubt they will stick with an Inline 6 motor. It's too heavy and the new motors are more efficient and lighter and can produce the same amount of power. I would love to see the 2UR from the IS-F with a manual in this car... that would be awesome. I love the IS-F, if only the price tag wasn't so much

Toyota already has plenty of heavy and big engined vehicles - namely lexus is, rc, gs, etc.
I'd love to see an efficient 4 cylinder in it, e.g. 2.0 with modest hp and good mpg.

Um, the Supra was always a sports car. From the beginning it was always one of the best handling vehicles on the road. There was nothing gt like about it.

It'd be interesting to see if they move the "Supra" into a Tudor/IMSA GT class race program.

If sure as hell won't afford one, so I might as well wish that I can watch one road race.

The 86 is a Toyota in Japan as well.

So, just like Celica and Supra, they can still offer two concurrent sporty cars.

Minor differences aesthetically between FT86 and BRZ, but the FR-S has more differences, such as the non-autoclimate control (which is a plus for me). it's like a lower trim 86/BRZ. Hey, less electronics, less things to breakdown and it's less complicated.

Hey, they all have the same engine, can be modded to your liking with practically the same aftermarket parts, look pretty much the same to an average person, AND their all made by toyota anyway. (reliability)
