it's toooooo slowwwww!!!
Hey guys. Just bought 2015 1.5L manual yaris...
Stepping down from a 550rwhp falcon xr6 turbo is a big drop... feel like I've been castrated tbh. So the question is are there any good reliable turbo/super prefab kits that people would recommend? Happy to do all the work myself as I'm not lost mechanically but i really can't be bothered searching for hours gathering Intel and rep for kits when it's a lot easier to ask. Cheers, Tempest |

What's your price range and HP goal?
Zage makes a kit. The turbo on it is a hit or miss. Some have issues with them within a month, some are still running the same turbo for years as daily drivers. Do a bit more probing in the Forced Induction section, many many many answers are already in those threads. I can tell you haven't bothered yet because on the first page there is a thread that was started about 3 weeks ago 10 topics below the one you just posted called "Turbo Kits!". That thread would answer your first question, and then answer possibly answer the other questions that would follow. I am not trying to be a dick. Just trying to keep the repetitive clutter to a min. So why did you buy the Yaris in the first place? It isn't a HP machine and to expect to get the feel of 550rwhp or even close to the feel from a 106BHP eco car is bizarre to me.

A kit will not get you anywhere close to the 500hp of fun you had.
MicroImage can help you build a nice 250+whp Yaris... Now we start to talk. |

Yea, MicroImage has closed up shop. Selling all his stuff on Ebay now. I tried to purchase some stuff last week but got refunded and next day the site is now down. It was fun while it lasted.

Really? I was wondering what's going on when they started liquidating their stock here, but their website was still up at the time, so I didn't pay much attention.

Yeah it's too bad they closed. I had good customer service from Jeff when I had called in the past.
I always wondered how a shop that specializes in aftermarket yaris parts stays afloat. Not too many people seem to mod yaris'. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The first and biggest question is what is your budget.

I got the yaris because the Falcon became to much trouble. Havoc on gearboxes lol that and fuel/registration costs and general maintenance were getting a bit up there as she grew old and tired.
Didn't intend to actually work the yaris however i'd really like to give it a little bit more up and go. Not expecting huge power just enough to at least best an NA 6 in a straight line. Tbh i don't know how much the little 1.5 can take as my entire knowledge base is in falcon barra 4L T's and pretty much nothing else. Intention is to lower, reduce body roll, nicer wheels, and a little bit of boost either SC or T depending on consensus as i don't see NA work being worth it. reliability and sustainability would be important so i don't want to be pushing the limits, but 30-40% in hp increase ideal and most likely enough. That and i'd just giggle my arse of every time if i got flutter from plumbing back the bov :P Budget will be $5-7k for engine work. Cheaper the better. I can do most bolt on installs myself, i have a tune shop in mind to finish her off but then comes the question of needing ecu? Or are the stock ecus programmable? Also someone mentioned to me something about trying to find a vitz rs 1.5t engine and trying to import it into aus Sorry for slow reply guys |

Your best bet would be the 2zr swap from the Scion xD. Very minimal work. Almost a plug and play to gain 30+ whp NA for a reasonable price. Then if you want you could even boost that 6-8psi and get even more of a bump.

Another consideration would be using Prius pistons. Guys have seen really nice NA gains going that route. Not trying to dissuade you from go8ng boosted by far. Just trying to give you cheaper options. You may be able to find a used Blitz SC for 1700-2000. Bew ones are getting tougher to find and can run between 3400-4000. With othe4 mods they can get you to between 130-150whp. Going with a Zage turbo kit will net you between 140-170whp and possibly up to 200whp with the right mods. The Zage seems to have a base price of around 1800 bucks but that is without fuel management nor a harness. The Stock Ecu is pretty much locked down tight. There are some folks in Southeast Asia that claim they have unlocked it, but I have personally yet to see real world evidence. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk

I'm a pokey, relaxed driver by nature, so the Yaris, like the standard Corolla, Civic, Fit, etc. have plenty of pep by my standards (most cars in this class have very similar HP-to-weight ratios). Anything that can go from 0-60 in about 9-10 seconds is fine by me. Anything quicker tends to lead to trouble anyway.
