accelerating too fast from a stop

What would cause my 2009 to accelerate too fast from a stop. I can barely touch the accelerator. It is fine on the road.

I think you're the first one experiencing something like this...I'm always complaining about how much slow is the throttle response on my Yaris, and I'm not the only one saying this. Is your car used? Maybe the previous owner has installed an elettronic throttle controller to improve throttle response...

The north american model with the 1.5L is programmed to be super zippy. It's a pain in the ass sometimes. There are threads here on people trying to make the throttle less responsive!

I don't know...if you look on the forum you'll see a lot of people that have installed a throttle controller to improve response and to avoid the delay caused by DBW throttle. I've driven the same engine on the 1st edition Yaris TS (that was even lighter) and I didn't find it so uncontrollable as you're reporting.

That might also be a contributing reason. Less mass means less throttle input needed to get the car moving.

I've discovered that mine accelerates fast in 1-3 gear mode, and not so fast in economy , Drive.
