My first new car...

New here, didn't seem to find an introductions thread... Or maybe I missed it completely? That being said, I love my 2015 Yaris LE (automatic).
Bought it last October with about 20 miles it, just hitting shy of 7,000 now.
I've had my share of beaters over the last 15 years. It's so much better than the 1998 Mazda Protege I was running around in the last 5 years that was a rust bucket, leaking oil and exhaust hanging on the ground... But I digress.
I'm glad I was able to find a forum with such dedication.

My only gripe:

Parked like this in the parking lot at work and somebody still had to hit me. :-(
I guess I can't have anything nice.
Forking out the deductible and am hoping to have it fixed in the next two weeks. Anything I should be aware of for the repairs to the bumper and wheel well? Most of the damage is really minimal cosmetic (thank goodness, I'm WI, rust capitol of the world...) The rim is all scratched up along with the middle cap, amazing what a Honda Civic can do... (too bad plates were blurry on camera). I have a smaller dent up a bit further in the back quarter, but I refuse to have the window popped out to have it fixed.
Still working on a name, so far all I've got is Blue. Super original, I know.

Oh, really sorry to hear that. My Yaris is the same colour as yours, and also dented by someone in my office car park two weeks after I took it from Toyota. Two months later got dented at the rear by some shopping trolly....

By the way, your photo is tiny, so it is difficult to really assess. The rear bumper is plastic, so it may just be a matter of popping it out and a bit of polishing. The rim is a different matter though, you may need some specialist rim/alloy restorer to do it for you.

I absolutely understand your frustration, but unless you keep you car in the garage, there is really now way to avoid other careless drivers (and passengers).

Welcome and sorry. I know the feeling of getting a new car and having it hit shortly thereafter. The level of poor driving I see out there never ceases to amaze me. Take it to a reputable shop and they'll get it as good as new for you.

I'm still getting used to this forum set up. I'll see if I can change the width. My husband ended up putting it back on the clips. The rim will go in for resurfacing, however the middle cap is quite scratched up. I'll be a bit miffed if it's not replaced. I know, public domain means fair game for anyone out there. but geesh. lol.

After 35 years of no accidents I've had THREE in my 09 in seven plus years.

Nothing too major and well fixed so all is well.

Hang in there!

Roxstar, not the first time I've heard about work related car stories.
