My 2007 Yaris

Hi!

Been looking around for a couple times, but never really posted before.

Here's my history,

My mom bought a Yaris in 2007, in 2011 sold it to her ex husband ( my father) with 88k kilo and my father gave it to me in january. With around 180k kilo on it.

And since like 3-4 days, I've been looking what you guys are doing to yours. And there sick thing out there. But since it's my daily drive, don't want to go too low, want to keep it fictional. I'm in Montréal, Canada, road are ugly as F*ck here.

Here's my other ride : 03 1.8T jetta, almost stock. But with few goodies.

Im here discuss about problem/ issues I have/will have with the car. Some tips, tricks, must have mod, etc will be welcome from you guys.

Here's a quick list of what I want to do in the near future.

Short shifter + shifter knob ⬇️

Sell my wheel, but before gonna have to remove that clear coat that's peeling. Do you guys have any idea of how to do so? Paint stripper and then sealing the wheel?! Currently on 14-15 inch, not sure, didn't check.

Buy new wheel, 16x8, something like below:

OEM Lip kit or hands type R lip

OEM fog; is there a spot to put the switch ? Didn't find any blank spot on the left of the steering wheel.

And, maybe, lower it a little bit.

And maybe, add a little more power, without loosing too much gas efficiency.

Trouble I currently have:

Battery light in dashboard. Didn't have problem to start or anything. Sometimes the power steering get harder, that means thé strap stop turning. I will have to replace the alternator,

My remote door ( lock/unlock) doesn't work anymore since last Friday. Came to my car to door locking themselves non stop. Couldn't unlock them. I unlocked them with the key in the keyhole. And today, the locking side ( turning left) in the key hole stoped working.

Do you guys know what it is?

ABS and emergency brake light in dashboard are light up. Sometime when I brake, the brake goes very soft, and the I hear the abs noise. Do you have any ideas of what it could be ?

That's that for now.

Thanks for your help!

your mom, is she a time traveler? how was the yaris stored for +90 years? if you go back to the storage place with the current yaris, is it in there? can you move it, and if so, will the original disappear?
also, that shift knob, terrible. (imo)

You WILL be best fixing it's problems (some of which couldn't happen on a base model) and keeping the mods "fictional." (Freudian slip)

Your original post, which has now disappeared, contained the word fictional rather than functional.

I don't even know How my original post disappeared. Did I delete it? Moderator can bring it back ? I edited it ( correcting "my mom bought it in2097") and it disappeared.

My autocorrect is in French ( because I'm French Canadian) so that's explain a lot of error.

Relatively common problem probably due to this forum running on an antique version of vBulletin. Sometimes it reappears, most times not.

I'll let you wiki "Freudian slip." It was a great one. Too bad no one used the "quote" button to capture your original post.
oh...and you originally wrote your Yaris was a 2097 model, or stored since then or something.

And now it is Sir Digby's thread...I've used a lot of V-Bulletin and never seen one work like that w/ respect to just OP's post 1 disappearing from a thread.
(and happy face for funny meanings from spelling errors)

If I can get an alternator from a 2001 echo, for free, will it work?
If not, I'll get a 2008+ alternator

On a positive note, the original post is back - fictional and all

Kidding aside, congrats on the new project.
