Yeah, there can be more in the text than is expected of you for the course; in that case just try to jot down the topics from class and then just read them or make sure you go over them more thoroughly. I study physics though, so it's possible that this method won't work for Biology classes.

oh, we need to look at the diagrams in the book, but to read every page? no professor other than this one has told me to do that.
