Oh, you are required to show up, but people go out of their way to come up with creative excuses to avoid getting selected for a jury. That part of the process was amusing, but bordering on sad how obvious some people were at trying to shirk their responsibility.

What was her punishment? I don't think I was privy to that. I believe they scheduled her for another hearing for that. The state of Florida has some pretty stiff base sentencing guidelines for DUI. I'm sure she lost her license for a year at the very least.
