I stopped doing heal-toe on the streets since my old CRX (I've tamed down a bit from those days of old). But rev matching is second nature to me. And the thruttle responce on the manual makes it difficult to be smooth. I think most of the problem could be solved if the accelerator was a little more responsive when punching it in neutral (in order to match the Revs when downshifting).
I'll punch the accelerator at the same time as I go down on the clutch, but I do it so quickly, that the revs are just starting to climb by the time I'm already off the clutch and in gear. Which kinda sucks, cause since the Rev's aren't matching, the clutch and the syncro are taking the load and getting abused. If only the accelerator was able to do it's job... I did 300,000km on my old Manual Civic and sold it with the original clutch which was still going strong (syncro's were also in great condition). At the rate I'm going now, If I don't get the accelerator to respond more quickly (or slow things down...which is not an option), my Yaris's tranny wont last. |
