I changed my belt because I have a cross-country trip coming up. Thai-built Yarii like mine have had a history of belt squeal and premature wear as delivered from factory, so much that the dealer actually takes the preventative step of greasing that belt with rubber grease to stop the squeal. One owner I know actually had it fray apart 50% at around 10,000mi and changed under warranty. The rest aren't so lucky - usually they are turned away, citing normal wear and tear. Mine has only squealed once on startup, but has also had the belt greased during servicing.
