Alternator
My 2006 Yaris has about 63,000 miles on it, and recently started making a rattling, metal on metal kind of sound, faint at first but now quite loud. My mechanic neighbor has diagnosed it as the alternator, as did my spouse before the neighbor even looked. I am wondering how common it is for this to happen? Anyone? I've not had any problems at all until now.
