shouldn't really need to do this as moisture can now get trapped and have a hard time drying out and could lead to accelerated corrosion, if your tape becomes a trap.

the correct method is an OBD-II CAN protocol scan tool to determine the exact MIL code(s) being thrown

3) probably fine if you go three tanks of your normal driving patterns and the MIL doesn't come back
1) Ahh I see, probably right, is there possibly a better method, although I guess it isnt entirely necessary in the first place

2) Ive been looking for a reason to get one of those anyway!

3) One day down, short drive to work, so it will probably be a month or so before i get through 3 tanks :-) yay for high mileage
