I've never driven an MGB, but I do have a slightly warmed over Bugeye Sprite and it has as much power, far better suspension & definitely less weight than my Yaris. The Yaris is a bit more comfy to drive and has all that space in the hatch to haul junk around in though. I consider myself as having the best of both worlds. I have a reliable, economical & watertight putt-putt that I drive daily (Yaris) and I also have a reliable, economical & not so watertight drop top (Bugeye) that I can race through the mountain twisties with the top down on a nice sunny day.
Of course, my Sprite is modified, so comparing a stock one (or a stock MGB) to a Yaris will have much different results. If I had to choose between the two I would keep the Bugeye and suffer when it rains or snows (but then I'm sort of a glutton for punishment).
Oh yeah.....you don't need a stereo in an old roadster. The sounds the engine makes are music enough.
