Dreaded P0012 Code - What to do now?

Y-World,

My 2006 CE is throwing the dreaded P0012 code. I have 225000km (approx 140000 miles) on her so she's way out of warranty. I've read up on the Scionlife threads but the answers there are not very clear, nor are the threads on here for that matter as to what to do to fix this. Car drives fine EXCEPT on occasion, when I start her up, she sputters, chokes and idles rough for a bit until I give it some gas, then she idles fine. This happens mostly when it's a cold start. There are times the car will stall right out if I don't blip the throttle.

Plugs have just been replaced as was the air filter. Same thing. Is this problem related to my engine code then (the whole cam timing issue)?

Most of the reading online suggests it's not an easy fix but I was wondering of anybody on here ran into that same issue amd had any other suggestions.

Cheers,
K
