The car I had before my 2007 Yaris was a 2001 Suzuki Swift (same thing as a Geo Metro except with a 4cyl 1.3 L engine). I purchased it new over Labor Day weekend in 2001 for almost 20% under the factory sticker. I guy I knew at the time said to me 'you can drive any car you want to, so why not drive something more expensive, etc."? I said 'Why not...why would I want to sink more money than is sensible into a depreciating asset"? The way the guy looked at me, it was as if I was speaking a foreign language
