2ZR-FE Technical Question
I have a 2011 Yaris HB that I am starting a 2ZR-FE swap in. I understand all of the mechanical aspects of the swap. However, my hang up is with the ECU/Immobilizer. My Yaris is equipped with an immobilizer and the ECU that I got from a 2011 Corolla also is immobilized. My question is, can a Yaris VIN be written to a Corolla ECU with TechStream? Can the Yaris key be programmed to the Corolla ECU? If the Yaris VIN is written to the Corolla ECU, will TechStream detect that it is a Yaris VIN and attempt to flash the ECU with Yaris fuel/ignition maps? It seems that most vehicles that 2ZR-FE swaps come from are equipped with an immobilizer, so if someone could shed some light on this, or steer me in the correct direction to another option, I would be very appreciative. I really do not want to retain the factory ECU, even if it can be tuned via piggyback, for lack of dual VVTi control. Thanks in advance.
