MMT 5 drops into neutral

Hi everyone,

I'm having an issue with my 2009 Toyota Yaris (from France).
When I'm driving and slowing down, the car suddenly drops into neutral, but the gear displayed doesn't match what the transmission is doing. The engine is no longer engaged with the gearbox.

The only way to restart is to turn off the ignition completely, remove the key, wait a few seconds, then start again. There is no error message on the dashboard and nothing shows up on the diagnostic tool.

Toyota told me the whole gearbox should be replaced for around €10,000, but the actuator motor seems in good condition, I opened it and checked. Before considering such an expensive repair, I'd love to know if anyone has experienced a similar issue or can suggest what else to test.

Has anyone experienced this issue or found a solution?

I'd really appreciate any advice or recommendations for reliable specialists in France, near Paris.
