Just as an FYI, for the ComforTreds on 14" steelies, ask for the 185/65-14 tires.

If you're on 15" steelies, get Michelin Harmony in size 185-60/15. This is also available in the 185/65-14 size.

If you're willing to go for dedicated winter-season tires, get Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50 or WS-60, whichever the tire store has in stock.

I don't have any tips for summer tires except being duly impressed by Eagle F1 GS-D3's for equal performance wet and dry (which are available for our cars in the size you want AND the correct sizes of 205/40-17 and 215/40-17), but for all-season purposes I've got experience ranging from zoom-zoom Eclipse GS-T's to putt-putt Corolla FX's and Ford Escorts to go-anywhere Jeep Comanche 4x4's, and I've learned the same thing time and again.

For true all-season tires, TripleTred, ComforTred, Harmony, in that order of preference, but Blizzak WS-anything stomp em' all into the ground for dedicated winter tires, and Blizzak REVO is even better but not available for many vehicles. Anything but the Blizzak's will give a very comfy ride, and the ComforTred's live up to their name.

As a quick note though, if you're able to run 215/45-17's without rubbing anywhere, you can fit TripleTreds on the steelies as a side-note. Get the 185/70-14 or 195/60-15 size in that case.
