You missed the part about the extra snake oil polymers that are required to get the wider viscosity rating and how they react under stress and heat, besides, owner's manual states 5w30 not 0w30 for the Yaris

Your friend is not the "expert" you thought ;-)

This is because Amsoil and Mobil1 and all the others disagree with him. You see, Amsoil is the best and it makes 0W-20 and 0w-30 and tens of thousands of cars using it are not failing. In addition, UOA for those oils shows very, very low wear...so much for the "molecues cannot stretch" comment.

I would suggest we all pay a visit to BobIsTheOilGuy.com and read the forums on oil there....a lot of superstitions will die if you do...at least they did for me.

You can start by reading your manual and your oil cap (5w30 only) and your Toyota TSBs, and then you can finish off by stepping into the LS2 and GTO forums to inform the regs that you think SgtGeek doesn't know about motor oils and UOAs

I am sorry you did not read or understand the email I left. What is viscosity of 0w at 50C and 75 C you will see it is much less than the 5W. The engine oil may not run at 100c. You are not a chemist. An who is bob the oil guy - like bill nye the science guy I see on tv? You will not get correct information with proper scientific method on this a chat forum. I see chest beating like religious fanatics whcih is a dangerous person
