Do you think its worth it to spend $550 for installation?
Hi Guys,
I just got my packages from my friend. He bought me: - fog lamps, - 2 way alarm system with remote starter option, - double din head unit (just a cheap one ) - rear view camera. So I went to WestSide Car Audio at Scarborough yesterday. And ask them how much it cost to install all of these things into my Yaris. And it ended up with AU$550. So do you think I just go through with this price or do you know any other store that cheaper than this store?? Help.. need advice please... |

$150 to install fog lights? that's insane. it took a friend and i less than an hour to install them, with little prior experience. most of those installs you could do by yourself just from DIY's on YW or from starting threads asking for advice. if you have the time and the confidence, save yourself some money and ask for help when needed.

Ouch those prices are killer.
Have you tried any other places like strathfield or an auto electrician? The head unit and fog lights you should be able to install yourself. Alternatively you can get a plug and play harness for the head unit. Otherwise go to Evolution R Unit 3, 9 Capel Court, Bentley WA. 93580288 I think Mao could help you out with the Alarm system. |

$500 is actually a pretty average price for that work considering that you didnt buy the equipment from that store. I know at my shop we charge a higher hourly rate when the equipment being installed was not purchased from us.
Also, always go to an independent dealer(a reputable one) to get electronics installed. The guys at the big box stores(Best Buy, Circuit) just dont have the experience or the love of car audio like us guys at the independent shops. |

CLICK HERE i bought it only $100 (including shipping) I tried to call other stores to compare the installation price, but most of them want to see the stuff first before making any quote.. The problem is, I don't have enough time since I'm working from 8.30 to 4.30. |

I would recommend autowatch or laser line alarm systems. Oh yeah when you do get that alarm system installed be careful with the automatic locking system.
Maybe you could drop your car off the day before or is the store open on saturdays? |

Well my skyline has auto lock. On the first day i got my car, not knowing it had auto lock, i left my keys in the car and engine running. Had no spare key, so i had to break in... after that, i always leave my window down when i go out to get something.
Hope it all goes well... by the way, where are you getting it installed? |

$500 depends how well they do it with the alarm system, most shops do it cheap but they do dodgy work. so just get a reputable dealer.
