I have a Streamlight Scorpion myself and a friend of mine is a security supervisor and also has one of the rechargeable ones. I like the color of the LED version but the distance on the standard one beats anything I ever seen. My small Scorpion reached just as far and was only $40 at Bass Pro Shops

The Scorpion is a bad MoFo. The Scorpion LED is next on my list. Its just that I barely have a year in my Surefire E1L. I'd like to get my money's worth before I invest in another flashlight. I like the xenon flux bulbs for the same reason. However, the LED last longer. Thats why xenon flashlights carry a spare in the handle.
