I painted mine and it's still going strong.
Remove the pieces (SO EASY!!!! OMG) Sand them down with super fine sand paper Primer (all gritty, kinda cool) Spray paint with color of choice (Mine is blue!) Clear coat (I did like 7 or 8 coats; it's on there good now) Picture attached for your viewing pleasure =) -Edit- The color in the picture is pale toward the top because the sun was REALLY bright that day.
