Can someone explain to me how to reposition the wires to get the HIDs to function as low beam and the halogen as high beams? I feel bad getting him the kit and not be able to help him to rsolve the problem. I want to at least get him good info.
drl is causing the flicker for low beam you either take the drl relay of or or relay the low beam instead . that relay and fuse should come with the hid kit..

uhmm as far as i know all yaris has day time running light DRL.... thats the only reason why its flickering.. drl run on 10 volts where hid needs 12 v at least otherwise itll flicker. ..

relay low beam..although it may be on the whole time you can always use high beam on day time..

Wouldn't an easy way to determine if he does have DRL be the light sensor? Is it a black bubble dome barely noticeable in the forward side of the dashboard like in my Corolla? I'll see if he has it next time I see him. I was also thinking , to bypass the DRL function without messing with all the wires and relays, what about just blocking the light to the sensor? maybe electrical tape over it or get fancy and make a molded cap?
