The local distributor for K&N has dyno tested his CAI setup and gained 5whp so not too shabby. MPG improved noticeably enough according to his customers who put one in. With the CAI, headers and a full exhaust w/ the cat in place, one Yaris claims to have made a full 10 wheel hp gain without any tuning. I'm waiting for his final ouput once they install a DASTEK piggy-back ECU and do some dyno time. I guess if you're starting at the low 70+ wheel HP level (at least locally here) I guess you will feel that 10whp, possibly more.
While 40whp gain is something worth considering, I don't want to go crazy on engine mods in the Yaris. I have another car for crazy speed and power anyway. I just want to eke out as much power yet still maintain close to 100% reliability i.e. one-click start operation, no overheating issues and quiet, inobtrusive for the daily commute to work. All the inputs though are greatly appreciated even if I don't agree with them all. :) keep 'em coming :) PS i drive the Yaris as fast as I can regardless of the road surface here in the Philipines which can get really bad, despite being on what the local highway sstem describes as a "highway" ehehehe so chassis braces are really important to me. Hence I got the Megan braces which I said in previous posts is distributed locally by a good friend. Next up would be a front strut-bar and 4-point front lower brace regardless of how other people feel it's a waste. It's the rear im debating about too since I play golf and normally load up the rear to the brim. Anyways, thanks for the feedback. Its fun reading through a lot of old posts by the pros, I'm still learning quite a lot despite having been in the car business (I own a small shop specializing in modding cars like Supras, Silvias, Evos and STI's) for over 8 years :) |
