Hmmmm. I just looked at the manual for the 712t. The only thing I can see is that maybe the double pulse time is set too short. It can be set for 0.8, 3.5, or 0.4 seconds. The default is 0.8, so try the 3.5 second option. (My ultrastart waits two seconds between the first and second pulse, and that works fine).

I was wondering about that setting myself, I will give it a try and see what happens. Thanks.....
