I always wondered about my dealer's fill up, too. Granted I was just learning how to hypermile at the time, but that first tank only netted me 36 MPG using standard measurement techniques. That was the lowest tank I ever had, and one of only 2 under 40 MPG (the other one being my second tank at 39 MPG).
