the convertible has its place.

a mini convertible is just awful to drive in comparison to it's hardtop brother (the way the car was DESIGNED)

if a car is DESIGNED to be a convertible, not retrofitted AFTER the fact, i think it can be a decent car, such as the Elise and MX5
